General Information on the Presidential Dollar Coin Series
There are three main versions of president dollars!
P and D mint mark Presidential Dollar coins.
TYPE 1 P AND D MINT MARK ~ Type 1 P and D mint mark presidential dollar coins are general issue (business strike) coins, issued for circulation, produced at a very high rate of speed with no special attention to the quality or eye appeal of the coins during production or packaging. Although the coins have been sent to banks, you might be able to obtain them at your local bank but most of the time the coins have already been damaged in a drawer or counting machine. Type 1 coins are quite common and not offered here, but they are indeed quite difficult to obtain in most areas of the U.S. are considered to be collectible by millions people
TYPE 2 P AND D MINT MARK ~ Special limited version Type 2 P and D mint mark Presidential Dollar Coins are special collectors only coins, many times more rare than the type 1 P and D mint mark coins from the banks. Type 2 P and D mint mark Presidential Dollars are issued in uncirculated sets for collectors only by the U.S. Government. The type 2 P and D mint mark Presidential Dollars are produced using special equipment at a slower rate of production to enhance the quality of the type 2 P and D mint mark Presidential Dollar Coins. TYPE 3 MIRROR LIKE PRESIDENTIAL DOLLARS ~ The type 3 mirror like coins are the most desirable of the series. Living presidents will not be featured, to be eligible to be featured on one of the coins, presidents must be deceased for at least two years.

Special information about the various levels of quality for mint condition uncirculated collectible coins
QUALITY OF UNCIRCULATED COINS MS60-MS70 There are 10 levels of condition for mint condition uncirculated coins. The scale for rating mint condition or mint state uncirculated coins is MS60 to MS70. The initials MS represent Mint State (mint condition) MS60 coins will have little eye appeal with several scuffs and scratches, some severe. The luster (shine/surface) of the coin may be dull and unattractive. MS61 coins and MS62 coins will have fewer scratches with less severity but will still not be very attractive coins. MS63 coins have better eye appeal, the scratches must not be very severe and the number of them will be fewer. MS64 coins will have no severe marks, very few medium sized marks which may be in the prime focal areas (the areas you notice at first glance when viewing a coin once or twice) MS64 coins are disqualifed from a MS65 rating if they have marks in those areas such as the field (empty surface of the coin) in front of or directly behind the main design (Bust image, eagle, statue, podium, building, etc.) An MS65 coin will have no such marks on the face of the design subject, such as on the cheek or forehead of a President on a dollar coin. Any marks on an MS65 coin will need to be noticed only after you have viewed the coin for about 10 seconds. There should be only a few light marks and a few scuffs that are not readily noticible with the unaided eye. MS66 coins will have only one or two light marks, none in any prime focal or secondary areas of the design. MS65 coins and above should be viewed with 5 times magnification. MS66 to MS69 coins are designated higher grades based on strict guidelines, the number of marks, the location of the marks, the quality of luster and general eye appeal. To grade MS65 and above will take years of practice before you are accurate at grading them. Grading is subjective, subject to the opinion of the grader. Equipment, setting and lighting may affect the ability to accurately grade a coin, even the mood of the person grading the coin will have an effect on the final summary and grade designation!

New Golden Dollar Presidential Dollar Coin Release Dates : New Golden Dollar Coins! The new Presidential Dollar. Coins are to be released in 2007. Four U.S. presidents are honored on the dollar coin each year, in sequence, based on the order of their term of service.
The first four issues are the George Washington Dollar coin, The John Adams Dollar coin, the Thomas Jefferson Dollar Coin and the James Madison Dollar coin. There are to be 5 versions of each coin. P mint mark, D mint mark normal finish, P mint mark and D mint mark Satin Finish and S mint mark mirror like proof Presidential Dollar Coins! There will be 4 presidnets featured on the presidential dollar coins per year. There will be 20 different coins per year in all in the presidential dollar coin series! The new 2007 Golden Presidential Dollar coins are to be issued in the following order and time frame for the year 2007, the program will continue until about the year 2016.

The new president dollar coinsalso includes the following design feature changes:
The Word LIBERTY will be absent from the coin, the Statue of Liberty will represent the concept of liberty in picture rather than words. This will be the first time the word LIBERTY will be absent on circulating U.S. coins.
All lettering and numbers will be incused into the outer edge of the coin to make room for more design elements.The motto "In God We Trust" and "E Pluribus Unum" and the date of issue will be featured around the outer edge of the coin. Special uncirculated coin year sets issued by the U.S. Treasury Department will be redesigned to allow the observer to view the outer edge of the coins through the special holders. The features on the obverse (front side of the coin) will include the "name and likeness" of a U.S. President, the dates he served in office, and his chronological place in sequence of the office of the presidency. The reverse (tails side) features a "dramatic representation of Liberty", an image of the Statute of Liberty which will extend to the rim of the coin.
Sacagawea Dollars will also continue in production in mintage numbers not below 33.3% of the total number of dollar coins struck each year. One out of three dollar coins produced each year will continue the Sacagawea Dollar coin design. 66.7% of the total number of dollar coins produced each year will be Presidential Dollars. Divide the number by 4 and the percentage for each president dollar coin produced is to be about 17 percent of the total number of coins produced. Each President Dollar coin design will be produced for only about 3 months, then will never be produced again.
